Management Pack for Cisco UCS

The Blue Medora VMware vRealize Operations Management Pack for Cisco UCS is an embedded adapter for vRealize Operations (vROps), collecting performance data from your Cisco UCS systems and providing predictive analysis and real-time information about problems in your infrastructure—all within the vRealize Operations user interface.

How the Management Pack Collects Data

During each data collection cycle, the Management Pack opens aconnection to Cisco UCS Central or Cisco UCS Manager to obtain data regarding UCS resources.

Notable Features

The Management Pack harnesses powerful vRealize Operations features such as:

  • 5 comprehensive monitoring dashboards:
    • Cisco UCS Overview
    • Cisco UCS Health Investigation
    • Cisco UCS Chassis Overview
    • Cisco UCS Servers and Fabrics
    • Cisco UCS Virtual Machines
  • 1000+ collected metrics for Cisco UCS resources
  • 200+ detailed alerts and recommendations imported from the Cisco UCS API
  • Key performance metrics such as total sent/received throughput, memory usage, and ambient, memory unit, and processor unit temperature.
  • Relationships to VMware Hypervisors hosted on Cisco UCS Blade or Rack Servers
  • vRealize Calculated Slot capacity for Cisco UCS Chassis

Release Notes

VersionRelease DateDescription 20, 2020
  • Fixes support for 7.x
  • Adds a host address to event and symptom messages 16, 2020
  • Adds a new Health Investigation dashboard
  • Adds exception check / logging when creating SystemDegredationEvents and NotificationEvents from ExUnoEvents
  • Prevents collection failure for results containing an event that occurred before the year 2000
  • Adds the wwn property to the Fiber Channel Port
  • Adds a new Blade property called Processor Models 21, 2019
  • Updated to support vRealize Operations 7.x and 8.x (does not support vRealize Operations 6.x)
  • Added CRC Receive Errors metric to Fibre Channel Port resource
  • Added processor model property to Blade resource

  • Added the ability to set timeout

  • Updated severities of symptoms/alerts to match UCS documentation
  • Fixed an issue where some statistics had values too large for the data type being used (e.g., port statistics in bits would "roll-over” at ordinary throughput levels)

  • Resolved inability to connect with TLS v1.2

  • Changed collection so that the ethernet port has a different value for the Sent and Receive Bits and packet metrics (change will roll up into any metric based off these values)

  • Improved Blade and Chassis relationship-matching logic to ensure exact matches are made
